Mariel Murray is the Staff Chief of the U.S. Forest Service portfolio at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Budget and Program Analysis, where she oversees U.S. Forest Service policy, law, regulations, and budget. She is passionate about natural resources and tribal law and policy, having previously served in the U.S. Forest Service's Office of Tribal Relations and Lands & Realty office, as well as the White House's Council on Environmental Quality and Office of
Management and Budget. She joined the Board in 2017, and enjoys learning and contributing to local conservation efforts. Mariel is a New York and Washington, DC- licensed attorney with a J.D. from the William & Mary School of Law, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Mariel grew up abroad as the daughter of American and Norwegian diplomats but has now settled in Washington, DC with her family.
