Alex Rough

Alex Rough is a sustainability professional and environmental advocate with a longstanding commitment to advancing conservation and responsible growth in Northern Virginia. His career has spanned the clean energy, data center, and commercial real estate sectors, where he has worked on sustainable building initiatives, LEED certification, and environmental best practices.

Beyond his professional work, Alex has dedicated years to environmental advocacy through organizations including the Sierra Club's Great Falls Group, where he served as Political Chair, and the Town of Herndon Sustainability Committee. He has also been actively involved in regional conservation and land use policy, advocating for smart growth, environmental stewardship, and stronger collaboration among conservation organizations.

A lifelong Northern Virginian, Alex is passionate about protecting the region's natural landscapes while helping communities balance growth with sustainability. He joined the NVCT Board to support regional land conservation efforts, expand conservation awareness, and strengthen partnerships that help preserve nearby nature for future generations.
