Ynes Mexia

Ynes Mexia, a Mexican-American botanist is recognized for her extensive work in collecting specimens of flora and plants from Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. Her research had culminated in the collection of well over 150,000 specimens including the discovery of a new genus Asteraceae, of which the species name mexianthus is named in her honor.
