How Can I Participate

We will again be using iNaturalist to conduct NVCT’s Nearby Nature BioBlitz. With the fun, easy-to-use app and website, iNaturalist enables people to capture and share information that helps us learn more about nature.

When Does the BioBlitz Begin?

The virtual portion of our NVCT Nearby Nature BioBlitz is from October 1-31, 2021! On the final day, which happens to be Halloween, we'll have a special in-person Halloween Day-themed nature walk for kids at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale from 12-2 pm!

Come dressed in costume and explore the woodland trails, gardens, and play areas with us!  All kids in attendance will get a goody bag and have the chance to see many of the plant and animal species that the park has to offer!

Where Will the BioBlitz Take Place?

Virtually/socially distanced anywhere in Northern Virginia.

Why Should I Participate?

A BioBlitz helps people connect with the nature around them. From the rarest butterfly to the most common backyard weed, every observation can contribute to our understanding of the world around us. All you have to do is observe and have fun!

And yes, there will be prizes!
