John Diehl

John is a principal consultant and partner at Environmental Consultants and Contractors, Inc. (ECC), an environmental firm specializing in the identification and remediation of contaminated sites in the mid-Atlantic.  For over 25 years, John has shepherded contaminated sites through voluntary environmental remediation programs in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, with a particular focus on construction-related environmental matters.

John graduated from William and Mary with a bachelor's degree in environmental science and holds a master’s degree in geology from The George Washington University.  He is certified by Virginia as a Professional Geologist and by West Virginia as a Licensed Remediation Specialist and serves on the DC Department of Energy and Environment Working Groups and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Technical Advisory Committees.

John joined the NVCT Board in 2024.  He lives in Vienna, where he can often be found biking or hiking on the Cross-County Connector.
