Trash Clean Up on Hunting Creek
Sat, Mar 22
|Alexandria
Help us clean up the Hunting Creek area! The trash and debris that pile in from the Potomac River and Cameron Run harms the wildlife, ruins the environment and makes recreation in the area difficult. We hope you will join us and show up for the environment!

About the event
Join NVCT, Porto Vecchio residents, and the Potomac Conservancy for a land-based cleanup of the shoreline of Hunting Creek just west of the parkway. Arrive by 10:00 am at the latest to get started immediately! We will collect trash along the shoreline by foot, then move up towards the road as the tide rises. Doing this land-based cleanup in winter works well because the marshy plants have died back, leaving trash readily exposed and accessible at low tide. We will meet at the Porto Vecchio Condominiums before continuing down the shoreline.
Volunteers should wear sturdy footwear that can get dirty and dress according to the weather. We will reschedule in case of rain or extremely low temperatures. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so that we can ensure you sign the required waivers and get key information leading up to the event! If you have any questions, reach out…
