Charles Smith
Charles is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner with Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) with thirty-three years of experience natural resource management, ecological restoration, large-scale project coordination, policy development, and public speaking. He has worked in public lands management overseeing natural resource inventory, planning and management for forested ecosystems, grasslands, wetlands creation and restoration and riparian corridor and riverine system restoration. He also has a broad background in wildlife management, water quality assessment and monitoring, and regulatory review and permitting. He works extensively with non-profit organizations to support research, natural area preservation, local and state policy revisions, outreach and education. Charles is retired from Fairfax County, VA and is currently serving for SER as a board member of the Large-scale Ecosystem Restoration Section and is also a board member of the Virginia Native Plant Society and the Friends of Huntley Meadows Park. Charles is a native of Arlington, VA and a US Army veteran. He lives in Spotsylvania, VA.
