Lauren Janoschka

Lauren currently serves as the General Manager and Production Manager at Spooky Action Theater in Washington, DC, where she oversees financial operations, contracts, hiring, fundraising, and general theater functions. Lauren has lived in Northern Virginia for over 14 years and currently resides in Ashburn, VA. Growing up in a hiking and outdoor-loving family, she developed a deep appreciation for exploring the natural beauty of the area. Some of her favorite places to hike and connect with nature include Sky Meadows State Park, Shenandoah National Park, Great Falls, Scotts Run, and Bull Run.

Lauren is passionate about causes in arts and culture, environmental conservation, and gender parity in underrepresented fields. She was inspired to join the advisory council at the end of 2024 because of my nonprofit experience and my understanding of how influential volunteers are in driving the success of meaningful missions. While her professional role focuses on arts administration, she wants to channel her long-standing interest in environmental conservation, a cause she hadn’t fully expressed in her day-to-day work. Lauren's educational background at Ohio University, which emphasizes ecological conservation in Southeastern Ohio, helped shape her appreciation for conservation efforts. Additionally, her hands-on experiences exploring protected areas and natural spaces in Northern Virginia have deepened her connection to this important work. Joining this council is an opportunity to combine Lauren's personal and professional passions while supporting a mission that she has admired for years.
