Celena Romero

Communications Specialist

Celena is our resident Texan, having been born and raised in Dallas. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries from Texas A&M University and will always be a proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie!  Afterward, she worked at several zoos and aquariums, advocating for wildlife protection by connecting guests with animals she worked with. A desire to create a more significant impact in wildlife preservation led her to Colorado State University to attain her master’s degree in non-profit management. During this time, she interned at Butterfly Pavilion, an all-invertebrate zoo in Westminster, Colorado. She worked with their animal care team and then their marketing team. During her graduate studies, Celena was also the head of the marketing committee for her graduate program.

As the communications specialist, Celena spreads the word about NVCT’s land preservation efforts and crafts stories that spark the public’s interest in nearby nature! Celena blends her scientific knowledge with her non-profit communications experience to connect the public with conservation so they can be empowered to participate in it!
