Phoebe Peterson
Phoebe is a landscape painter and has had a studio at the Workhouse Art Center for the past ten years. She also volunteers through her church, picking up food from Wegmans and Costco and delivering it to a local food pantry. Phoebe and her husband Rick have lived in Clifton, Virginia, for the past 36 years. Rick grew up in Fairfax, and the two met at Middlebury College in Vermont before moving to Northern Virginia. They enjoy walking the trails in Clifton, especially at Hemlock Overlook and around Burke Lake.
Phoebe was raised to cherish nature and conserve natural resources. Her mother recycled back in the 70s, never used a dryer, and grew most of the family's summer vegetables, while her father was a devoted birder and conservation volunteer. Those values stayed with her and inspired her to join the NVCT Advisory Council, where she’s served for about a year. Most of what she knows about conservation comes from her parents, but she continues learning through reading and volunteering.
